Tilt in Space
The Kudu has a unique tilting mechanism, allowing the seat to be tilted back up to 45° while maintaining the stability of the wheelchair. Weightless adjustment means changing the tilt angle requires the minimum of effort, making the Kudu a breeze to operate. The tilt combines with a reclining backrest that can lie back up to 30°, allowing the child to achieve a relaxed, laid back position, ideal for resting.
Adjustable seating
Four base sizes of the Kudu are available. Each one then allows for substantial amounts of growth, allowing it to provide a continuous fit for years as your child grows. The high degrees of adjustability allow children of all shapes and sizes to be accommodated with a precision fit.
For those children with complex postural requirements, the Kudu can be fitted with third-party specialist seating. We supply a wide range of seating solutions that we have fitted to the Kudu, including ones with brightly coloured upholstery to complement the style of the wheelchair.
Travel
Available as either a self-propelled or transit chair, the Kudu is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, whether by wheelchair user or an attendant. It is fully crash-tested for occupied transport in a vehicle. Alternatively, the Kudu can be folded up to a compact size to fit in the boot of a car – simply fold down the backrest and pop off the quick-release wheels and legrests. Depending on frame size, the Kudu weighs from 13 – 19 kg, which is incredibly light for a tilting wheelchair.
Style
The Kudu has a unique styling to it, appearing closer to a sporty active wheelchair than the traditional chunky look associated with many older tilt in space wheelchairs. We think R82’s Kudu has an elegant and stylish design, and this can be enhanced through the options you choose with it.
Three different frame colours are available – red, anthracite grey, and white – allowing an element of personalisation, although not as much as on competing models such as Ki Mobility’s Little Wave Arc or Flip. However, the addition of seating such as Spex’s range allows you to add further colour to the chair.
