Product Description
Traditional scooters are made with steel frames, which add to the weight you need to lift. The Alumina’s frame is entirely aluminium, drastically reducing its overall weight to just 28.8 kg – it is over 17 kg lighter than the similar Apex Lite. When disassembled, the heaviest piece is only 11 kg, compared to 15 kg on an equivalent steel-framed scooter. This makes the scooter far easier to transport, removing the heavy lifting from taking your scooter in a car with you.
The light Lithium battery weighs just 3.5 kg, and is fully flight safe – ideal for those that travel frequently. It also boasts an impressive 15.5 mile range, far more than the normal 10 – 12 that standard boot scooters offer.
The Apex Alumalite features simple to use controls, 8″ alloy style wheels, and a spacious foot platform. It is a modern looking stylish scooter available in black, red and blue.
Our Verdict
Aluminium framed scooters are a recent development, and are revolutionising the boot scooter market. While more expensive than traditional steel-framed scooters, they make perfect sense – if you are transporting your scooter regularly you want it to be as light as possible.
The Apex Alumalite is our most affordable aluminium framed scooter and is well worth considering if you will struggle to lift heavier weights. We would also suggest looking at Motion Healthcare’s equivalent Evolite, and the Alumalite Plus, which has the addition of full suspension for a more comfortable ride. Rascal’s VelumiLi is a similar scooter to the Alumalite with the addition of a two-year warranty on both scooter and battery, and is worth considering.
