Product Description
One of the chief features on the Lithilite is its Lithium batteries. The standard battery pack weighs just 4 kg – compared to around 15 kg for conventional batteries – and provides a 15 mile range; far more than normal boot scooters that rarely muster much more than 10.
A Lithilite Pro upgrade is available with a slightly larger 5 kg Lithium battery that has an unprecedented 30 mile range on a single charge. Many full-sized 8 mph road scooters fail to offer this kind of range, and there aren’t any other boot scooters that come anywhere close to offering this distance.
If you are driving for that kind of time, you want to do so in comfort – and the Lithilite doesn’t let you down, with full suspension at front and rear to smooth your drive. The padded seat features adjustable armrests, and can be rotated for getting on and off-board, while the tiller angle can be adjusted to your comfort too. However, the handlebars are traditional “stick” type ones, rather than the delta tiller found on many scooters – those with limited dexterity may struggle to grip it so it is worth trying out first.
The scooter has impressive ground clearance for a boot scooter, and the long flat floorplan provides a good amount of legroom – ideal for taller people.
As a boot scooter, the Lithilite can be easily disassembled into 5 pieces for transport, the heaviest weighing just 15 kg. It will then fit into the back of most cars, letting you take your scooter with you when you travel.
Our Verdict
One of the chief limitations of boot scooters has always been their range, and the Lithilite overcomes that. Even if you don’t need the Pro version’s 30 mile range, the standard Lithilite is still a very impressive scooter that is comfortable to drive and easy to transport.
The other scooter we would recommend considering alongside the Lithilite is Motion Healthcare’s top end Alumina – which is essentially the same scooter (with a Pro 30-mile range version too) but with an aluminium frame that makes it substantially lighter and easier to lift, albeit also being somewhat more expensive.
