Lightweight Foldable Wheelchair Hire

We selected the Sunrise Medical Breezy Moonlite as our standard wheelchair due to its fresh, clean design, sturdy construction, and ease of use. Unlike cumbersome and heavy steel hospital wheelchairs, the Moonlite is made of lightweight yet sturdy aluminium. This means it weighs just 13.5 kg, so it can be easily lifted by a single able-bodied person.

The wheelchair easily folds up for storage or transport in the back of a car, and the footrests can be clipped off. Should you want to reduce the weight and size further, the quick release wheels can be popped off at the press of a button. This makes our Lightweight Foldable Wheelchair the ideal companion for travel, whether it be a driving holiday, coach trip, cruise or a flight, particularly as your wheelchair hire will be covered by our full international insurance.

The large self-propelled wheels allow the wheelchair user to propel themselves around – ideal when indoors or in social situations. While realistically most people won’t have the upper body stamina to propel themselves long distances outdoors, convenient push handles allow the wheelchair to be pushed too. The large size of the wheels provides a much smoother ride outdoors than small transit wheels, helping you to regain your independence, and the puncture-proof rubber tyres ensure you don’t need to worry about punctures.

Our flexible wheelchair hire offers an ideal solution for those recovering from an injury and looking to retain their mobility, with the freedom to rent for as long or short as you want – there is no need to commit to a fixed period in advance. Our next-day delivery allows you to get mobile straight away, should the need for a wheelchair be unexpected.

The padded canvas seat is comfortable to sit in, and we can supply our Lightweight Foldable Wheelchair in two seat sizes – the standard 18” and a narrower 16” seat for teenagers and slender adults. On placing your order, we take your weight and height and provide the appropriate size – if you would like to request a particular size, please let us know. The compact frame means that either size will comfortably fit through standard doorways.

The footrests can be adjusted with an allen key (provided) to accommodate longer and shorter legs. Please note that the armrests on the Breezy Moonlite are fixed, and cannot be removed for side transfer. If you need this feature, please call us to order an Elevated Leg Rest Wheelchair instead, which we can also supply with standard legrests.

Safety features include a lap strap to hold the wheelchair user safely in the seat, and anti-tip wheels at the back to provide stability when ascending slopes. Parking brakes allow you to safely hold the wheelchair in place should you stop on a slope. The Breezy Moonlite is fully crash-tested, making it safe to use for occupied transport in a suitably adapted vehicle – this is usually required by community transport providers if transporting a person in their wheelchair.
