Product Description
Once you’ve mounted the wheels and the controller to your wheelchair you can instantly enjoy the power assist provided by the Decon E-Drive with a joystick control. Its intuitive controls increase your manoeuvrability and independence which you can take on your travels – the E-Drive is a gamechanger.
The E-Drive system is easily mounted on most manual wheelchairs and perhaps critically, it’s just as simple to detach. The lithium batteries are airline friendly and the battery charges in a very reasonable 2-3 hours. The system is also easy to lift and store, making it ideal for your travels.
Use the controller to vary your speed to a maximum of 3.7mph and ride, indoors or out, up to 18 miles. Alternatively, you can switch it off to manual. There’s also an optional assistant controller, if you want to take a break. And the swing away control unit enables you to get closer to tables and desks – it’s great for everyday indoor use.
The maximum user weight is 125 kg as standard but there is the option of 150kg version. There are other useful touches, including a USB port to charge your phone and LCD control panel is visible in sunlight. Accessories include anti-tips with a jack-up function making it easier to detach the wheels.
Our Verdict
The E-Drive is an impressive piece of kit. Easy to attach and detach, it provides a really smooth ride and the joystick is as straightforward as it gets. Make sure you can handle the weight of a wheel which is around 7kg. If you test drive the E-Drive with us in our showroom, make sure you look at the Alber E-Fix which uses similar motorized hub technology but range is not a match for the E-Drive. The ultra-light Benoit Systemes Light Drive 2.1 is also worth a test drive. Extremely popular with our customers for it’s versatility but uses different technology from the E-Drive with a lower range and weight capacity.
