Product Description
Available in a much wider range of seat sizes, including widths of 15 – 20 inches, and depths of 16 – 18 inches, the Flexx provides a more precise fit than standard wheelchairs. The seating is more comfortable than the basic nylon upholstery often seen – both backrest and seat sling are comfortably padded, with the seat featuring breathable material that dissipates heat and moisture.
Your Flexx can be adjusted to your requirements – the footplate height can be raised or lowered, and the rear wheel position adjusted too. By moving the rear wheels backwards, the wheelchair becomes more stable – ideal if primarily being pushed; by moving them forwards it becomes more efficient for the user to self-propel. The seat height can also be adjusted to accommodate taller or shorter people. The backrest angle and height can also be adjusted to provide the right levels of support.
Other premium features include both attendant brakes and parking locks on the rear wheels, so both user and attendant can use brakes. The armrests can flip back for side transfers, and the legrests swing away for forward transfers – these adjustments are colour coded for easy operation.
Both a transit and self-propelled version are available – we favour the self-propelled variant as it still includes attendant brakes (most don’t) and the large rear wheels provide a smoother ride. The patented Ergonomic handrims are easy to grip and self-propel compared to standard aluminium ones.
A range of armpads – including Hemi Armpads ideal for those who have had strokes – are available, as are a selection of leg and foot supports. This includes elevating leg rests and amputee stump supports.
The Flexx Standard is fully crash tested, allowing it to be used for occupied transport in a car.
